Animals roam freely, and you’ll feel as if you’re miles from civilization at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. As one of the largest urban wildlife refuges in the nation, the preserve spans more than 145,000 acres. You can walk, bike, canoe or fish, and there is a wheelchair-accessible entrance. The entrance fee is $10 per vehicle or $25 annually. The refuge is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to review the list of rules, as the area is home to wildlife you may not normally encounter.
