Almost time to give birth? . . . Here's what to take to the hospital

Don’t wait until you're in labor to get ready for the hospital. Have a bag packed and ready to go. That way, you won’t forget anything in your rush to get out the door.

Hospitals usually provide most baby items, such as diapers, wipes, a blanket and a hat. Babies have sensitive skin, so try to wash baby items in a gentle detergent before packing them.

• Breast pump
• Breast pads
• Brush
• Cell phone charger
• Deodorant
• Glasses/contacts with contact holder and solution
• Insurance/Medicaid card
• Loose clothes to wear home
• Nightgowns or nursing tops
• Nipple cream
• Nursing bra
• Nursing pillow
• Photo ID (driver’s license, passport)
• Robe
• Several pairs of underwear
• Shampoo
• Slippers
• Soap
• Socks
• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Washcloth

ITEMS FOR BABY

• Extra blanket
• Two newborn outfits
• Newborn hat and socks
• Car seat installed for bringing baby home
